What a Google review link is

A Google review link is a URL that opens the write-a-review form for one listing. The customer should not have to search for the shop after a job.

Google hides that form behind search and the listing. After a plumber or a roofer leaves, most people will not hunt for it. A same-day Google review link is the short path: they tap, they write, they send. We do not promise that this will move your Maps rank. It just removes the hunt.

When someone taps the link on a phone, Google opens the write-review screen for that Place ID. They still choose the stars. They still write the words. You did not post anything. You did not filter one-star reviews. You asked. That is the whole product.

The official write-review URL

The format we build is always the same:

https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID

PLACE_ID is Google’s public id for that listing. Most of them start with ChIJ. It is not a password. It does not let you edit the profile. It only names the place the form should open.

g.page review link vs Place ID

If you manage the listing, Google Business Profile can copy a share link. Those often look like a g.page URL. Google’s help for that dashboard flow is Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews. Both styles can open a review form. We use the Place ID URL because you can build it from a paste without logging into the profile.

How to share it

You send the text. Askforstars never sends SMS, never posts to Google, and never writes the review. After a job, open Messages on your phone, paste the template, and send it to the person you just finished. That is a same-day Google review text — your words, your phone, your customer.

Text is the default because the number is already in the job. A printed QR on the counter is the other honest path — they scan instead of tapping a message. Google’s own QR is created on a computer. Ours is drawn in the browser after you have a link, so a phone in the van can print it. Neither path is review gating. You do not offer a discount for five stars. You do not hide a bad review. You hand them the form.

A Google review link is not a login. It is not a profile invite. It is not a shortener we control. If Google changes the write-review host, the Place ID is still the piece that names the shop. We will keep building the official URL Google documents, not a wrapper that tracks the customer.

Questions

What is a Google review link?

A URL that opens the write-a-review form for one Google listing. The official format is https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID.

Is a g.page review link the same thing?

Google Business Profile can also copy a g.page share link. Both can open a review form. We build the Place ID URL because the Place ID is public and you can paste it without logging into the profile.

Do you send the text?

No. You send it from your own phone to someone you just did a job for.
